GENERAL FAQ
Which diagnostic kit do I need?
This depends primarily on the make of the vehicle you own. In most cases, each laptop is dedicated to a single brand. Multi-brand systems are possible, but they require additional planning and configuration. If you are interested in a multi-brand solution, please feel free to get in touch.
Can I use my own laptop?
Yes. In many cases, your existing laptop can be used. As a minimum, I recommend an Intel i5 4th generation processor or newer and 8 GB RAM. Depending on the make of the vehicle and the software required, storage requirements can vary considerably. Single-brand systems typically require between 128 GB and 512 GB SSD storage, while multi-brand diagnostic and coding systems may require up to 2 TB.
Can I use my own interface or cable?
Possibly. Depending on the make of the vehicle and the type of software required, your existing interface or cable may still be suitable. Before purchasing, please get in touch and let me know what equipment you already have. In many cases, existing hardware can still be used, which may save unnecessary expense.
Is the software already installed?
Yes. All kits are supplied fully configured and ready to use. Simply switch on the laptop and start working. Instructions are included.
Can I install other diagnostic software on the supplied laptop?
No, we strongly advise against it.
Our systems are carefully configured and tested as complete environments. Installing additional diagnostic software may overwrite drivers, modify shared components or create conflicts that cause existing applications to stop working correctly.
If you choose to install other diagnostic tools or make significant software changes after delivery, we cannot accept responsibility for any issues, loss of functionality or software failures that may result.
For the best experience, we recommend using each laptop only for the software it was originally supplied with.
Do I need an internet connection?
It depends on the brand and the type of work you intend to perform. Many diagnostic tasks can be performed completely offline. Internet may be required for remote support or remote coding assistance.
Do I need any subscriptions?
No. There are no subscriptions or monthly fees required to use the supplied software.
Are instructions included?
Yes. Every kit includes instructions and useful information. Manuals are available directly from the desktop for easy access.
Is remote support available?
Yes. I am always happy to provide a short remote introduction to the software. If you require coding or programming services, please contact one of our trusted partners. Prices and arrangements are agreed directly between you and them.
Can every problem be solved with diagnostic equipment?
No. Diagnostic equipment is a tool, not magic. In most cases, diagnostics help identify the cause of a problem and guide the repair process. Simply clearing fault codes does not repair the underlying issue. Knowledge and experience are just as important as the equipment itself.
Why are some products not listed on eBay?
Due to eBay policies, not every product can be listed publicly. If you cannot find what you are looking for, please get in touch and I will do my best to help.
STILL NOT SURE?
Still not sure which kit is right for you?
Contact me before purchasing. I'll help you choose the right diagnostic solution based on your vehicle, existing equipment and experience. This may save you money and help you avoid buying hardware or software you don't actually need.
